What small business automation actually costs
Nobody publishes prices, which makes it impossible to judge whether a quote is fair.
Here is how the money actually works, including ours.
Three separate costs
There is the cost of working out what to do, the cost of building it, and the cost of running it. They are usually quoted as one number, which is how budgets get away from people.
Ask any supplier to split them before you sign anything.
What we charge
Split out, so you can compare.
- Working out what to do — a free strategy call, at no cost to you
- Build — quoted from the call, before any work starts
- Running it — an optional monthly retainer for changes, monitoring and support, cancellable
Where budgets slip
Scope by accident
Every 'while you are in there' request adds cost. Fix one problem, prove it, then decide.
Running costs nobody counted
Per-message, per-seat and per-automation fees add up. Ask for a monthly figure in writing.
Nobody owning it
An automation nobody maintains quietly stops working, and you keep paying for it.

- Do I need the monthly retainer?
- Only if you want ongoing changes and monitoring. Plenty of clients take the build and run it themselves.
